Ambitious targets

So as to counteract the threats to biodiversity we have witnessed, or to realise opportunities, the Forum is adopting ambitious targets to create and restore wildlife habitats and species populations across the East of England.

The maps that follow illustrate three categories of Biodiversity Enhancement Area. These Areas have the greatest need or potential to contribute to the creation and/or restoration of biodiversity to meet regional targets, as well as to ensure the integrity of the East of England ecological network.

The Areas are derived from statistical expressions of an area's total rated biodiversity value or potential, based on habitat and designated sites' data. This assessed value, or potential value, helps to indicate where initiative opportunities are likely to exist and have the most potential to be successful
